Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Hubert A. Minnis laid a wreath at the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Annual Memorial Service, Coral Harbour Base, today, in honour of the four marines who died during the sinking of HMBS Flamingo by Cuban military jetfighters. The ceremony also honours other members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, who would have died in the line of duty since the Flamingo incident.
As CARICOM Day 2019 is fast approaching the Planning Committee held their regular Meeting at the Bahamas High Commission, Ottawa on May 7th 2019.
Mr Nestor Sands, Second Secretary serves as Chair of the Planning Committee.
NASSAU, Bahamas – May 2, 2019 – The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation presented its new creative campaign featuring Bahamian-American rock legend Lenny Kravitz to Canadian media and travel industry partners during a local campaign launch event May 2 at the Bisha Hotel. Set to the lyrics of Kravitz’s hit song Fly Away, the television commercial and supporting marketing campaign capture his deep personal connection to The Bahamas, as well as the pure adrenaline rush of exploring the archipelago’s 100,000 square miles by boat and plane. The campaign debuted in January in the U.S. and will begin running in broadcast markets across Canada this week.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the deteriorating situation in Venezuela with concern. The government of The Bahamas calls upon the Venezuelan Authorities to safeguard the Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Venezuelan people.
The government of The Bahamas expresses the hope that a peaceful resolution is realised in accordance with Resolutions adopted by the Organization of American States and the Inter American Democratic Charter which all member states have accepted.
Mr. Wilfred Adderley II, Second Secretary and Vice Consul at the Bahamas High Commission in London, named 2019 Young Diplomat of the Year.
