Bahamas High Commissioner to London Updates on Investigations Into Deaths of Alrae Ramsey and Blair John

NASSAU, The Bahamas – His Excellency Ellison E. Greenslade, QPM, High Commissioner of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, said he is satisfied with the level of investigation into the deaths of the two Bahamian young men whose bodies were found in the River Po in the city of Turin, Italy, on June 4 and 5, 2019.

 

High Commissioner Greenslade, a former Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, was dispatched to Italy on Saturday, June 8, 2019, to make further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Foreign Service Officer Alrae Ramsey, 29, and Blair Rashad Randy John, 28, a Ph.D. student in Psychology.

 

High Commissioner Greenslade is accompanied by Wilfred Adderley II, Deputy to the High Commissioner in London, and Michelangela Vismara, Bahamas Honorary Consul to Italy.

DEATHS OF BAHAMIANS IN TURIN, ITALY

NASSAU, Bahamas, June 5, 2019

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is saddened by the death of one of its Foreign Services Officers, Mr. Alrae Ramsey, who was on study leave in Vienna, Austria, and who visited Turin, Italy, over the middle of last week. Mr Ramsey was employed with Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 9th December 2013.

Formerly, he was posted at the Bahamas Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as third Secretary/Vice-consul in 2016 – 2017. Then, last year, he was granted an In-Service Award to pursue a one-year Postgraduate Diploma programme in Diplomacy/International Relations and Languages at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna in Austria for the period September 2018 – June 2019.

According to the Ministry, officials arrived in Turin today and met with officials from the police force. They confirmed that the body pulled from the river was, indeed, that of Mr. Alrae Ramsey.
